Bozeman Foodie Highlights: Farmer’s Daughters, Feed Cafe, Red Tractor Pizza

As I’m writing this post, I’ve realized we ate a lot of food this past week! Would that really surprise anyone though?

I can’t believe it’s already August and we certainly started the month out with a bang. We ran another race this weekend and tried out a few new resturants.

We’ve also been trying to plan out the rest of the year for our budget goals and we have some really exciting trips coming up.

In October we’ll be driving down to Salt Lake City to explore the city for the weekend and watch the Boston Bruins play. At the end of October, we’ll be flying home for my cousin’s wedding, so it will be really awesome to see my mom’s side of the family. Then in December, we’ll be taking a road trip home. Yes, that’s right… we’ll be driving back to Maine/Massachusetts! We were planning to fly but we can’t figure out a way to bring Cassie without putting her in the under carrier of the plane. Also, getting a sitter for her for 9 days would be around $600-$1000 which is a crazy amount to spend. So, we’ve decided that in the long run, it’ll be cheaper to drive, and we can pick up the rest of our things that have been in the storage unit.

Tons of adventures to come so I hope you all stick around to hear about it.

Farmer’s Daughters Cafe

The first thing that drew me towards the Farmer’s Daughters was their gluten free muffins. You might not think it’s that big of a deal, but I can’t remember the last time I’ve had a gluten free muffin that wasn’t homemade.

Let me tell you, these muffins are the best gluten free muffins I’ve ever had!

The Farmer’s Daughters opened in 2018 by two sister’s that were born and raised on a farm. They wanted to bring food to Bozeman that tasted like Grandma’s kitchen, with a healthier spin on it.

The sisters also own the hotel attached to the small cafe and all their food and dishes are homemade in their kitchen. If you ever make it to The Farmer’s Daughters, you’ll find they have items on their menu such as smoothies, breakfast sandwiches, lunch sandwiches and a large coffee menu.

Pumpkin muffin

A gluten free pumpkin muffin that is so moist and full of flavor. Their muffins are by far the best gluten free muffins I’ve ever had!

Breakfast Sandwich

Egg, Daily’s bacon, Vermont cheddar cheese, avo crema, spinach on sourdough with a green salad.

Feed Cafe

The Feed Cafe offers a farm to barn dining experience, and it sure doesn’t disappoint! They source fresh ingredients from local farms to their renovated barn.

They have a very unique set up that truly enhances the experience. When you visit the barn, you first walk through their small market. What a great idea! The line to order your food trails through the small market so as you’re waiting you can see all the unique trinkets they have to purchase.

Feed Cafe is one of Jake’s favorite breakfast spots since the food, service, and atmosphere were all top tier!

The Muff

A breakfast sandwich that includes a sausage patty, scrambled egg, sharp white cheddar, pickled onion on toasted gluten free bread.

The Bapple

A breakfast sandwich with a redneck sausage patty, bacon, roasted apple, scrambled egg, sharp white cheddar, harissa mayo on a house-made english muffin.

Red Tractor Pizza

Red Tractor pizza is New York style brick oven pizza with a Bozeman spin on it. Not only do they source their ingredients from local farms, they also provide live music and entertainment throughout the week.

This place reminds me of a little hole in the wall place that is absolutely delicious. When you walk inside, it’s not a very fancy place but the vibes are really great. We didn’t go when there was live music or entertainment, but I can imagine it’s an even better scene with all that going on.

Red Tractor Pizza is probably now one of our favorite pizza spots and we will be back again. Another restaurant we can check off the list!

Steak & Cheese

White sauce, roast beef, mozzarella, red onions, topped with green scallions, drizzled with a little truffle oil on a hand tossed gluten free dough.

Waldorf Pizza

Roasted garlic sauce, mozzarella, gorgonzola, free range chicken, bacon, apples, VT maple-candied walnuts, MT honey drizzle.

Sweet Pea 10k Run

Saturday morning was another beautiful day for a road race! The Sweet Pea run is a tradition in Bozeman that happens every Summer during the Sweet Pea festival weekend. It’s composed of a 5k and 10k run.

Jake and I decided to take on the 10k which turned out to be a really fun race! There was more elevation than we anticipated, so thank goodness for all of our trail running.

We both hit our goals that we were shooting for which felt really good! Each day, I’m starting to get back to where I use to be with my running. When I was training for my marathon, I was in the best shape of my life when it came to running. Moving to Bozeman has sparked my love for running again so each day I’m getting better and better.

I’m so happy that Jake has taken a love for running as it’s just another aspect of our lives that we can enjoy together. He’s shooting to do a couple of the ultra-trail running races next summer which will be a blast to watch him accomplish such a huge goal.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed reading about our weekly adventures as we wind down on this Sunday evening getting ready for another week ahead!
