WE MADE IT TO NASHVILLE!

The drive to Nashville was pretty smooth sailing until the last couple hours as we hit bumper to bumper traffic. At that point, we just wanted to get to the hotel, we were so tired.

Cassie and Ella did great in the car! I was actually pretty shocked at how well Ella did during the drive. She only woke Jake up once because she wanted food but that’s expected. Cassie took a little longer to settle in as she didn’t have as much room as she normally does in the car but eventually, she curled right up.

We’ve been to Nashville one other time together when visiting Jake’s brother and sister-in-law. This time is a little extra special as we get to meet our niece, Josephine, for the first time.

She was absolutely adorable! This was Jake’s first time holding a newborn, so he was a little nervous, but he was a natural! It’s crazy how tiny she is and the next time we see her, she’ll be so big.

East Park Donuts

The first thing Jake and I had to get was East Park Donuts which is located in East Nashville! We may be bias, but we believe it’s one of the best donut places in Nashville. It’s also a plus for me because they have gluten free donuts and delicious iced matcha lattes.

We were also talking about getting a dozen to bring to my brother’s in St. Louis and to munch on for the road. Knowing Jake and I… it’ll probably happen!

Shelby Dog Park

We then brought Cassie to Shelby dog park where she met some new friends and ran around until she plopped down. This dog has more energy than any other dog I’ve ever met! She has that play hard, cuddle hard mentality 🙂 It was probably one of the bigger dog parks too that we’ve been to and very well kept.

Nashville Zoo

After that we made a trip to the Nashville Zoo which was pretty awesome! Jake and I were talking about how we can’t even remember the last time we actually went to a zoo.

Going to the zoo just makes you feel like a kid again seeing the different animals. We road a zipline, saw a tiger, a bear but I think the highlight of the Zoo was being able to pet the Kangaroos. They also had this weird contraption in the Kangaroo exhibit, and I swear it was a punching bag for them. I tried asking one of the little Joeys to try it out, but he just kept snoozing away.

Jake then tried asking one of the workers if he could take one of the babies home and they straight up said “no”. I don’t think she thought it was as funny as we did because of course we aren’t going to bring a kangaroo home.

Edley’s Bar-B-Que

When you’re in Nashville, I feel like you just have to get some BBQ food! We’ve actually been here before, but it was so good why not go again. It’s called Edley’s Bar-B-Que in East Nashville and the picture below will make your mouth water. It’s not too expensive and has a good variety of BBQ food.

It also looks like my plate has a pound of butter in the small bowl but believe me, it’s actually potato salad.

Down Town – Late Night Walk

I know know, we are cramming a lot into our day but we have limited time here so why not! Jake and I took a little stroll over the bridge from Nissan Stadium to Broadway to get some ice cream.

It’s funny walking through that kind of atmosphere because it makes you realize how different your early 20s are compared to your early 30s. There’s no way I’d be walking through downtown just to get ice cream back in my early 20s. As time goes on, you grow, you evolve, and you build a life you love.

We will catch you at the next stop! Enjoy 🙂
