Top Dining Destinations During Our Boston Road Trip

When Jake and I travel, you can be assured that we will discover excellent establishments. The second part of our road trip to Boston features an abundance of delights; prepare yourself to the delectable cuisine.

The blog is not entirely centered around food, so temper your expectations. However, I am astonished at how quickly time is passing, as it is already the second week of January.

Al Dente

Authentic Italian cuisine from all regions of Italy! Nestled in the heart of the world-famous North End, Al Dente restaurant allows you to indulge in an array of Italian specialties.

The exceptional menu, featuring pasta, chicken, veal, and seafood, showcases a range of exquisite Italian specialties that are certain to satisfy discerning tastes. The open kitchen allows you to observe the preparation of the superb dishes, and you will enjoy their offerings in a cozy casual setting.

They have been featured in numerous articles for their cuisine.

Chicken Parmigiana
Boneless breaded cutlet pan-fried and baked in their homemade marinara sauce, topped with fresh mozzarella cheese.

Lobster Ravioli
Fresh cheese and lobster ravioli simmered in a light marinara sauce with shrimp, a of cream, and Pecorino Romano cheese.

Bolognese
Classic tomato sauce simmered with premium ground beef, veal, and pork, a touch of cream, and gluten-free penne.

Cassie’s Adventure

Not only did Jake and I have an adventure out east, but so did Cassie. Last year, when Jake and I went skiing, Cassie stayed with a new sitter we found along the way to the mountain. Little we know, Cassie would meet her best friend, who is the sitter’s. Witnessing their bond, we believe these two might be twin flames as I’ve have never seen a bond like the one they have built.

When we decided we would be traveling out east to visit family, we knew a reunion with these two was essential. As I drove up the driveway, Cassie appeared slightly confused about our location, and I grew increasingly nervous that she might not remember, considering it had been just under year since their last encounter.

When Betsy and Stacy emerged, Cassie became ecstatic, and I realized she remembered. She was so happy that she was making her happy whines of excitement.

It brings me great joy to witness their happiness together and it was even more special that we were able to coordinate a reunion.

Duxbury Beach

This family-friendly beach extends six miles from Marshfield to the Plymouth villages of Gurnet Point Saquish. A notable feature of Duxbury Beach is that if you have vehicle capable of driving on sand, you can park right on the beach, mere feet from the water.

During the summer, numerous families will drive their cars on the beach and set up a day of enjoyment by the shore.

Despite the chilly weather, we decided to take Cassie to the beach for a walk and some playtime. I was surprised by the number of people walking on the beach and bringing their dogs for a stroll as well.

We also observed a few young adults taking a winter plunge in the ocean with their dogs. That is something I would never do! One thing that people know about me is that I do not enjoy being cold. I simply cannot enjoy myself if am cold. It is quite surprising that I have lived in a place my entire life where the winters can be chilly.

I genuinely appreciate the change of seasons, and as long as I have warm clothing, I am content. Additionally, I do not believe I could get rid of skiing.

Kingston Persy’s Place

Percy’s Place specializes in homestyle cooked food reminiscent of the owner’s grandmother’s recipes. As a family-owned establishment, several family members continue to operate the restaurants. Nearly all of our food is made fresh from scratch.

They bake their own bread and muffins, and Yankee Magazine called their six-hour hash the best in New England. The menu is the largest breakfast and lunch menu in New England, and they have been a locally owned company since 1982, run by family and friends.

Jake and I joined his parents for breakfast for one final meal before we hit the road back Montana. Three of us ordered different types of omelets, while Jake opted for a side of pancakes too.

The food was delicious, resembling a home-cooked breakfast.

Smoking Mule

Jake and I discovered a charming little restaurant in Chamberlain, SD. Initially, we stopped in Chamberlain because it was a convenient stopping point on our road trip, and the Smoking Mule was one of the few dining options in town besides the usual fast food establishments

We had modest expectations, but we thought that sometimes unassuming establishments can actually be the best. This restaurant certainly did not disappoint. Jake and I both ordered burgers and shared a pizza. It was quite evident that we were hungry.

This establishment offers the best gluten-free crust, and even Jake could hardly tell that it was gluten-free. Although he could tell, he found the crust to be exceptionally delicious.

What’s Next?!

Jake and I do not have many plans for the near future. I anticipate a lot of skiing. Apparently, Bozeman experienced a dry winter last year, but this year is compensating for it. In the past week alone, the mountains have received over 30 inches of snow. Skiing in powder has been exhilarating, and I look forward to sharing more about it.
